How to use it

This is generic arithmetic for a known rate. It is not a VAT, GST, or sales-tax rules engine for any jurisdiction.

1. Enter an amount and the rate you have independently verified.
2. Choose whether the amount excludes tax or is already tax-inclusive.
3. Review the pre-tax amount, tax portion, and total.

Worked example

Input

110 total including tax at 10%

Output

100 before tax; 10 tax; 110 total

Inclusive tax is extracted by dividing the total by 1 + rate.

Method and definitions

• Exclusive: tax = amount × rate; total = amount + tax.
• Inclusive: pre-tax = total ÷ (1 + rate); tax = total − pre-tax.
• Full precision is retained; currency display uses the page market.

Limits and edge cases

• No official rates, exemptions, product taxability, nexus, input credits, filing rules, or legal advice are included.
• The visible currency is formatting only and does not identify a tax jurisdiction.
